Lost at sea

Mindy, an injured, love-sick seagull

Last seen sitting on the neighbour’s chimney pot

Before the great storm.

I haven’t seen her for days. Where is she?

I worry that she’s too weak to handle the great storm that hit Hastings during the last few days. The Skittle cat and I both miss her!

About Anna

I am a ceramic sculptor living on the South coast near London, England. My work is influenced by my experience of the earth as a living being and seeing how we are all connected with eachother and with the things that surround us. I create ceramic torsos using molochite clay which I often smokefire in galvanised dustbins. I also make House Gods to protect and amuse, and Fat Birds - little smokefired sculptures that tell the story about what it is like to be a fat bird at peace with its surroundings.

Hopefully Mindy will have taken refuge somewhere. I am up the other end of the road to you (the very long road that leads in and out of Hastings lol) and I have a few seagulls that come looking for food. There was one that I nursed for a while as it seemed to have fallen out of a nest and couldn’t fly, so I looked after it for a few weeks, feeding it on tuna and things like that. I called it Kiwi as that’s what it looked like.

I think he came back recently as it had some of the same mannerisms as Kiwi had. SO there is hope that Mindy will be back soon
