Body cast commissions; Blue Simona

I was commissioned to make a ceramic torso for this girl a while back; I call her Blue Simona.

I started off by making a plaster cast
And from the plaster cast I proceeded to make the ceramic sculpture

She was quite happy for me to make several versions of her torso; this way she got her commission for free.

This is Green Simona…
and as she loved scorpions;

I placed a scorpio on her shoulder and called the piece White Scorpio. The smoke firing renders the white glaze a silvery hue.

About Anna

I am a ceramic sculptor living on the South coast near London, England. My work is influenced by my experience of the earth as a living being and seeing how we are all connected with eachother and with the things that surround us. I create ceramic torsos using molochite clay which I often smokefire in galvanised dustbins. I also make House Gods to protect and amuse, and Fat Birds - little smokefired sculptures that tell the story about what it is like to be a fat bird at peace with its surroundings.

  1. A really cool artwork Anna. I love how you’ve incorporated the scorpio characteristic into it, for the client. Have a productive Week! Much Love Paul OXOXOXO
