Cat and fox; winter shelter 2

The Skittle cat; Lord of all he Surveys…
DSCF0665_edited

(including my ceramic bowls) has finally lost out to the Fox when it comes to outside sleeping arrangements
I organised a cosy box for the Skittle because he is now an elderly gentleman, and his hip does give him gip now and then; I wanted him to stay warm and snug. I would prefer him to stay inside at night; but he has other ideas.

As I opened the door to let him in this morning, a strange face peered back at me…this is not the Skittle-cat, surely!

The Fox looked so cosy, I could but laugh. He even posed for pictures. The hair on his backside is beginning to grow back; he has had the most terrible mange and was completely bald a few weeks ago. I shall let him use this bed until he has recovered fully.  It must get a bit cold at night without a proper fur!

About Anna

I am a ceramic sculptor living on the South coast near London, England. My work is influenced by my experience of the earth as a living being and seeing how we are all connected with eachother and with the things that surround us. I create ceramic torsos using molochite clay which I often smokefire in galvanised dustbins. I also make House Gods to protect and amuse, and Fat Birds - little smokefired sculptures that tell the story about what it is like to be a fat bird at peace with its surroundings.

  2. Cool article Anna. I guess the fox must have been very comfy, to let you take photos of him, as they are meant to be really shy creatures, and sometimes go into shock if people are around them. It is very nice of you to let him/her stay, while the mange goes. I am sure the skittle cat will be back, once the fox has vacated the premises. Cats are very resourceful creatures, so will have found a new home to stay. I guess the fox would leave a scent, which the cat would have picked up on, so they could stay out of the way of the fox. I’m sure the skittle cat will return! : ) Have a fun Saturday! Much Love Paul OXOXOXOXO

Oh, it is a HE Fox, very much so. And The Skittle cat is fine; he has chased foxes in the past; foxes will only attack cats if they are starving; wild animals can’t afford to fight and risk getting wounded unless they absolutely have to, I think. Where as Skittle…well, Skittle does think a lot of himself. And rightly so, 😉

      • I am sure Skittle the cat will be fine. If he is a usual cat, he would be housed up somewhere warm and comfy. It is nice that you are letting the fox rest, until he is better. There is so much negative news about these animals lately, that is is cool you are showing them some kindness! Have a good day! Much Love Paul OXOXOXOXO

I’m glad Skittle came back. I don’t like it when one of my cats doesn’t come in for the night. At least Skittle must have found somewhere warm for the night.
