Kate contacted me for a one to one ceramic workshop to get a hand with creating a christening bowl for her grand son, Owen.
We discussed size and shape and the bowl grew and grew in size! Kate wanted fish and stars and the sea..So we made some fish and sea shells and water spirals.
This is the bowl after the first session.I think it looks lovely! Now it needs to dry and then it can be bisque fired.
The first thing we did during session two, when the bowl had been bisque fired, was to use some sand paper to rub down uneven bits. And then of course the bowl had to be vacuumed!
We used cobalt oxide for the sea and various under glazes for the stars and the shells. The fish were painted with a blue crystal glaze.
