Happy Spring Equinox!

DSCF4371_edited
After a long and challinging winter we can now step in to the spring sunshine and celebrate six glorious months where the days are longer than the nights!
The Skittle Cat, Lord of all he Surveys, bid you a Very Happy Spring Equinox!DSCF4381_edited
We took a little stroll around the garden this morning and this is what we noted;

Last year’s apples have almost completely rotted away; instead of serving as a blackbird smorgasbord, the ground is now hosting lungworth, primroses and daffodils to provide nectar for bees and butterflies.

So many wild primroses!

This is a Victoria plum singing its song.

The fig is busy unfurling its leaves; there are already new little fig nodules nestling close to the branch.
May we all enjoy a glorious new turn of the wheel because here comes the sun!

About Anna

I am a ceramic sculptor living on the South coast near London, England. My work is influenced by my experience of the earth as a living being and seeing how we are all connected with eachother and with the things that surround us. I create ceramic torsos using molochite clay which I often smokefire in galvanised dustbins. I also make House Gods to protect and amuse, and Fat Birds - little smokefired sculptures that tell the story about what it is like to be a fat bird at peace with its surroundings.

    That’s your plum already! Significantly further along than mine here in Norfolk. Do you have a sheltered micro-environment or is it just the south coast versus the east coast?

      Lol, yes, we’re lucky here. But I am worried about night frosts now that the blossom is out.In the olden days they would drape muslin around the trees to save the harvest…these days I just open a bottle of wine and hope for the best…

  4. I’m jealous of Mr. Skittle Cat! I want to run and play through a garden such as yours 🙂 We are still experiencing some chilly weather here, as I sit wrapped up today in a fleece! Your photos are quite lovely and take me away from my rainy-ness locally 🙂
