Plaster casting workshop in Hastings

I’m often asked about my techniques for making ceramic torsos, and it all begins with a plaster cast of a model. Body casting is quite easy; a bit like cycling in a way. You need to get the hang of it and away you go!
So I’m offering up a one day casting workshop on Sunday the 26th of Sepember from 10am-3pm. My idea is that we each cast a hand or foot, and if time allows also make a cast of an object of your choice – it could be a pretty leaf, a small piece of jewellery with an interesting pattern; anything with a flat surface and pretty textures.

The group will be small with max 6 people, and the cost is £35 including all materials and a lovely lunch, tea, coffee and cake.

About Anna

I am a ceramic sculptor living on the South coast near London, England. My work is influenced by my experience of the earth as a living being and seeing how we are all connected with eachother and with the things that surround us. I create ceramic torsos using molochite clay which I often smokefire in galvanised dustbins. I also make House Gods to protect and amuse, and Fat Birds - little smokefired sculptures that tell the story about what it is like to be a fat bird at peace with its surroundings.
