I have just updated my ceramic workshop diary for September and October…Quite excited about the Halloween Pumpkins!
Sunday 23 September 11am-3pm; Hand building techniques; watch that birdie!
This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as for people with previous experience.
The suggested techniques today is slab building and pinching; I will demonstrate how to create small bird sculptures by using these two very different techniques. As always, if you have your own ideas of what you would like to work with, you are very welcome to join us and do your own thing! I’m happy to be on hand with help and advise if needed.
The work can be glazed and smoke fired on October 7th.
Cost; £40 including all materials, firings, tuition, tea and coffee plus yummy cake. Please bring a packed lunch.

Sunday 14th October 11am-3pm; Hand building techniques; Halloween pumpkins!
The suggested topic today is coiling and press molding; I will show how to build a round shape such as a pumpkin using a mold to start off with. Pumpkins and squash come in all shapes and sizes so feel free to allow your imagination to run riot.

Sunday 21st October 11am-3pm; Hand building techniques; Vases and plaques
The suggested topic today is slab building. We will use rolled out slabs of clay to build vases and/or create plaques. The slabs will be decorated using textiles, ferns and other organic materials as well as coloured glass tiles (mosaic glass tessarae)

Glazing and smoke firing for Halloween! Today we glaze and smoke fire the Halloween pumpkin and all the other goodies we have made earlier in the month.
